
CL22 - II-A1, Intermediate-Level: The Effects Of COVID On Mental Well-Being And Relationships In Early Childhood Education
This Issue Intensive will start with a lecture to explain the effects of COVID on mental well-being and the importance of relationships. Participants will have opportunities to share their own challenges and experiences. The session will conclude with a brainstorming activity on how to advocate for and implement changes.

Dr. Birgit Monks has many years of experience working with children and adults in the field of early childhood education. She has held various teaching and administrative positions in diverse early childhood programs and provides ongoing training and workshops on a variety of topics. Dr. Monks also has more than 10 years experience teaching courses in early childhood education, human development, and education for students enrolled in bachelors, masters, and doctoral programs. Dr. Monks recently retired from directing a state funded, NAEYC accredited lab school for toddlers and preschool age children at a community college campus to accept a position as program chair for the bachelors program in early childhood education and adolescent development at Union Institute & University. She has a passion working with young children and their families, making sure all children receive the best possible care in a quality environment.
