Mindfulness for Early Childhood Educators

This learning module was designed for early childhood educators and program directors interested in exploring mindfulness as a means of supporting staff and the children in their care. It includes interviews with early childhood educators from the Tucson Child-Parent Centers, recommendations from clinical psychologists Luci Hackbert and Dominique Charlot-Swilley, and video of three-year-olds engaged in mindfulness practices. There are links to apps and online training and examples of practices for users to try, on their own or with colleagues. 

Learning Objectives:

Following the completion of this module, learners will be able to:

  • Describe the benefits of mindfulness for early childhood educators and the children in their care.
  • Identify at least three resources or practices useful for launching a mindfulness practice in an early childhood setting.
  • Describe a scenario during their workday that would lend itself to the use of a mindfulness practice.
