Certification Package: ZERO TO THREE Certified Trainer: DC:0-5™

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CERTIFIED TRAINER FOR THE DC:0-5™ CURRICULUM?

Provisional and Certified Trainers of The DC:0-5™ are approved and licensed to train on the entire curriculum.

ZERO TO THREE expects certified trainers to deliver up-to-date content with fidelity to curricular design and learning outcomes. Our curricula contain rich, sometimes dense content that promote specific learning outcomes and objectives. Our recertification process encourages ongoing delivery and professional development specific to the content of the curricula, with the goal of retaining the knowledge, capacity, and skills to effectively deliver the curricula. Recertification ensures that Certified Trainers retain this knowledge and capacity, as well as grow in their depth of knowledge regarding the topics in the curricula.  

ZERO TO THREE requires certified trainers to maintain current and approved certification status in order to deliver ZERO TO THREE curricula. Completion of renewal requirements, as defined in the Trainer Certification Overview, is necessary to maintain current ZERO TO THREE certified trainer status.  

A few important notes:

    This package contains all requirements needed to become and/or recertify as a Certified Trainer in The DC:0-5™ Curriculum .

    The recertification process will be available on your Recertification Date (1 months before your certification expires). At that time, you will see a green Recertify button at the top of this page and on your certification dashboard. This is to allow you the necessary time to complete any delivery, training, and professional development requirements needed to re-certify.

    There is a $99 non-refundable application processing fee when you enroll into Recertification. This fee will increase to $129 in March 2026. The application is required in order to complete your recertification. You will be able to access any available office hours for free. 

    Submit your recertification requirements 2 business days before your expiration date.

    All requirements must be completed before your expiration date. If your certification lapses, you'll be required to restart the entire certification progress.
CERTIFIED TRAINER INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Review the Certification Criteria Overview document under the Certification Overview tab to view the full requirements for becoming a Certified Trainer.


  2. You must be enrolled in this certification package by selecting the green recertify button at the top of the page to start the certification process.

      3. You will be redirected to our merchant website for payment processing. Please return to this page once payment is complete.

      When successfully enrolled in certification, you will no longer see a "recertify" button and you will see this certification listed under the "In Progress" section of your certification dashboard.

      Any completed coursework/credit eligible towards certification taken before enrolling will automatically be applied to your progress.

  3. Your certification will automatically be awarded once the application is complete.

      4. Once earned, certification is valid for one year from the earned date. Recertification comes with a one year digital ZERO TO THREE Membership that will be added to your account within 1 month of when certification is awarded.

    This is the ZERO TO THREE's DC:0-5™: Certified Trainer Application. This application is required in order to become fully certified as a DC:0-5 trainer

    CERTIFIED TRAINER APPLICATION

    Please read these instructions completely before continuing.

    Prior to beginning this application, please review the Certification Overview document in the Certification Overview tab to ensure you meet the necessary requirements to become a Certified Trainer in DC:0-5™.

    This application must be completed to become or renew your status as a Fully Certified Trainer in DC:0-5™. There is no need to "submit" an application. Simply complete all the required assignments listed under the Application tab. Once completed, each assignment will show a green checkmark indicating it's completion. 

    This application should be completed 2 business days before your expiration date to allow our team to review and approve your documents. All certification requirements must be completed prior to your expiration date. Do NOT allow your expiration to lapse. If your certification lapses, you will need to start over as a provisional trainer. 
    APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Enroll in Recertification to gain access to the Application tab. You can do this from your Certification Dashboard


    2. Under the Application tab, click on each criteria, select "Read Terms," review the statement and acknowledge completion of the criteria by clicking "I Agree." Please be prepared to provide evidence of each criteria if selected for an annual audit.

    3. Accept and agree to ZERO TO THREE's Code of Practice, Values and Ethics Statement, and the Trainer Agreement.

    The application is complete once all assignments have a green checkmark. Please return to the certification dashboard to see if you are missing any additional requirements (e.g. Office hours)

    Certification Dashboard

    One of the perks of being a certified trainer is that you receive one year of digital membership. You do not need to purchase a ZERO TO THREE membership separately. This is stated during enrollment and your trainer certification overview. If you do not see membership on your account once you have been awarded certification, please email trainercertification@zerotothree.org and we are happy to correct it. Please note that ZERO TO THREE does not refund payments for membership, however, membership is transferrable.
